How to Create Your Own Structure in Music

If you're writing music, you have to consider its structure. This can help you choose the chords that will work for you. However, the structure of your song text doesn't necessarily have to follow the standard formulas. Instead, you can use basic music theory to create your own structure. There are a number of ways to do this, including composing a vocal melody first, then transcribing the lyric afterward.

A common song structure is ABCBA, which stands for aaa, abc, ba, bbc, and ccc. It's also called a verse-chorus form. The stanzas of this form have to be separated by double-spaced lines, and there is usually a bridge between each stanza.
