Copier of the Fall Guys StumbleUpon Is Now the King of Mobile Gaming Charts
To put it briefly, Fall Guys went the free-to-play route. There, the idea for stumble guys was born.
You never know, but maybe the mobile version of Fall Guys that's already out there will wind up being more successful than the original. Stumble Guys is the brainchild of five talented programmers at Finland's Kitka Games.
According to Appmagic statistics uncovered by Mobilegamer.biz (via VGC), Stumble Guys has amassed over $21 million in lifetime sales and 163 million downloads since its first release in October 2020. It has risen to the top of the free-to-play rankings on both the iTunes App Store and Google Play in the United States and the United Kingdom, respectively.
Stumble Guys, as the name suggests, is structurally similar to Fall Guys. Up to 32 people may be whittled down to a single survivor via a series of knockout party games. While the vast majority of these stages seem to be races around circuits filled with slides, bumpers, cannons, trampolines, and other hazards, a select few test players' abilities to avoid death while perched on platforms.
Almost simultaneously, both stumble guys online and Fall Guys was released, with Fall Guys debuting on PC and PS4 before Stumble Guys did so on PC and mobile. Since 2022, downloads have skyrocketed, and mobile sales for Stumble Guys have taken off. About 9 million people downloaded Stumble Guys in January, but that figure had almost quadrupled by June. More than 1.5 million users got the game on June 25. And as a consequence of all those downloads, last month $6.6 million was spent on microtransactions.
Kitka states that Stumble Guys has roughly 18 million daily players, which is much larger than Fall Guys despite Fall Guys being free-to-play in June. Although Fall Guys is now available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, it was previously only available on Steam. You can still play Fall Guys on Valve's Steam platform, but if you want to play it on PC, you'll have to buy Epic's version.
