Bladder cancer is an oncological disease in which a malignant tumor develops from the wall of the bladder.
The most common histological form is transitional cell carcinoma (90%), less often squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Rare malignant tumors of this localization are sarcomas, lymphomas, carcinoid. Precancerous diseases are papillomas (benign epithelial tumors), papillomatosis of the bladder. Bladder cancer is more common in men than in women. Mostly the disease occurs in the age range of 40-60 years.
SYMPTOMS
Hematuria (blood in the urine) is the first complaint in 90% of patients. Hematuria is characterized by the presence of red blood cells in the urine. Microhematuria can only be detected by microscopic examination. Macrohematoria can be seen as the urine becomes rusty or red in color.
Blood in urine is a serious symptom that requires urgent medical attention. In such cases, delay is very dangerous.
Frequent, painful urination, difficult onset, discomfort after urination (found in 25% of patients).
Edema of the external genital organs, legs - happens when the veins of the lymphatic vessels are compressed.
Pain in the abdomen and pelvis - observed with advanced tumor.
It should be noted that the symptoms of bladder cancer are nonspecific and are found in other diseases of the urinary tract. Only an experienced specialist will determine the real reason for the presence of blood in the urine and prescribe the necessary treatment.
Bladder cancer may not show symptoms, its development may proceed without obvious signs of the disease.
